“Upon the Discovery of Accidental Omnipotence” goes up on 7th Avenue

A piece from the 2009 2-man show “Nuclear Religion” at Strychnin Gallery in Berlin has been selected and installed by the Phoenix Office of Arts & Culture as part of their 7th Avenue Streetscape Project.  I am one of 3 Arizona visual artists participating in this series, and each of the pieces has been paired with 3 poems from Arizona writers.

The 2 other artists whose work will be unveiled are Ellen Wagener and Kris Sanford.  The poets who will have their work displayed are Jeannine Savard, associate professor at ASU; Hugh Martin, teaching assistant at ASU; and Josh Rathkamp, coordinator of creating writing at Mesa Community College. Eve Vrla, graphic designer, was involved in developing the layout and background design for the poems.

The pieces will be dedicated this Thursday, April 21, at 7pm.  Participating artists and writers will be on hand to discuss their work.  The Streetscape Project is at 7th Avenue and Glenrosa, in Central Phoenix.

Downtown Phoenix Museum of Gentrification

Claire Lawton at the Phoenix New Times recently wrote a small feature on my c.1902 house, which I jokingly call the Downtown Phoenix Museum of Gentrification, for their culture blog Jackalope Ranch.
